Easter Egg Hunt

On Friday, March 22, 2013, we had our annual
Room 77 Easter Egg Hunt on the school grounds.

Students were only allowed to pick up the eggs which had their name.  They could help their friends by saying, "Here is your egg."  This helped us have an Easter Egg Hunt which was all about helping each other, instead of who can find the most.

Our students had a great time finding their eggs
on this beautiful day.

THANK YOU to all of the families who
sent in plastic eggs and candy.
THANK YOU to Mrs. Dexter, who came to school to place candy in the eggs and put the labels on them.
THANK YOU to Mrs. Brantley, Mr. Heard, and Mrs. Ayers for hiding the eggs, and helping to supervise the Easter Egg Hunt.

St. Patrick's Day Math

We celebrated St. Patrick's Day by doing "Lucky Charms" Math on Friday, March 15th.  Each student received one cup of cereal in a zipper bag.  Students sorted the marshmallow shapes from the cereal, sorted the marshmallow shapes themselves, then counted how many they had of each shape.  Next, they used this data to create a graph of marshmallow shapes.  Our students demonstrated their ability to sort, count, graph results, and evaluate their data.  Students conversed with each other about which of their marshmallow shapes had the most, fewest, and the same number.  Don't you just love Math?

TEN MINUTE ENDURANCE JOG

ALL of our 16 students were able to complete the
Ten Minute Endurance Jog during our Physical Education period on Wednesday, March 13, 2013.
Just look at our young athletes!

Yes, Mrs. Doiron jogged with the class, too!

Colonial Students

Our recent Social Studies unit was "LONG AGO & TODAY".
Mrs. Doiron loves history, and especially our colonial history,
because one of her daughters lives in Williamsburg, VA,
and works for The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
Here are photos of our boys wearing tricorn hats and girls wearing caps, both of which would have been worn by colonial children.

Free Pizza for February

These students have each earned a
FREE Personal Pan Pizza from Pizza Hut.

The Book It Program ends in March, so remember to fill out the form that was sent home at the beginning of the month.  Students are only asked to read (or listen to) ten books each month, write them on the form, and return it to school.

Only One You

Our February Book of the Month was Only One You by Linda Kranz.  After reading the story, we discovered that the fish in the illustrations were actually painted rocks.  We painted our own rocks to create fish and added google eyes to them, too.  What do you think of our fish?
