Numbers 11-19

Number and Operations in Base Ten
Work with numbers 11-19 to gain foundations for place value.
Compose and decompose numbers from 11 to 19 into ten ones and some further ones, e.g., by using objects or drawings, and record each composition or decomposition by a drawing or equation (e.g., 18=10+8);
understand that these numbers are composed of ten ones and one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, or nine ones.

Second Quarter Awards

Congratulations to these students who earned the following awards for the Second Quarter.

 Perfect Attendance
(In Duval County Public Schools, Perfect Attendance requires that students have no more than two tardies.  We had several other students that didn't miss a day of school, but they had three or more tardies.)

 Outstanding Conduct
(One more student earned this award, but he was absent on the day this photo was taken.)

"E" and "S+" Honor Roll

"E" Honor Roll
(Please note that both Honor Rolls require these grades in all three areas - Communications (Reading and Writing), Mathematics, and Social Growth & Development (Conduct).

Literacy Week 2014: Vocabulary Word Dress Up Day

Most of us dressed up as color words!

Experimenting with GRAVITY

Our students had fun experimenting with gravity.  They dropped different objects to find out which objects fell faster or slower.  They found out that the feather and sheet of paper fell more slowly than the rock, wooden block, and pencil.  Another day, we experimented to see if the paper fell faster when it was crumpled or just a sheet of paper.  Ask your child what happened.

Combinations of Six

I can show different ways to make a number that is less than or equal to ten.

Our students work in their Interactive Math Journals, as well as on their Individual White Boards.  We use manipulatives (learning toys such as double-sided counters or snap cubes) as often as we can.
