Canned Food Drive

Thanks to all of you who donated canned goods for our Arlington Area "Soup-er Bowl of Caring".  The total number of cans from Merrill Road hasn't been announced, but our class donated 76 cans.  The children are learning the importance of working together to help those who are less fortunate.  Thank you to everyone who participated in this event !!

Free Pizza for January

These students (plus one more who isn't pictured) earned a free Personal Pan Pizza from Pizza Hut.  They kept track of books read at home and returned their book lists to Mrs. Doiron.  We have two more months left in Pizza Hut's BOOK-IT program.  Keep track of your books, and you can get a free pizza, too!

Independent Reading

Independent Reading was extra fun on Friday, February 1st, when all the children wore their pajamas to school.  For fifteen minutes our students practiced reading with their stuffed animals, blankets, and pillows.  Don't they look comfortable?

What they did while we were at lunch

While our students were at lunch, all the stuffed animals had a little party in the classroom.
We are glad they ate pretend food!

School-Wide Slumber Party

On Friday, February 1st, we had a school-wide Slumber Party.  All sixteen of our students, plus the three adults (teacher, UNF intern, and FSCJ pre-intern) wore pajamas and slippers, and brought stuffed animals, blankets, and pillows.  We all enjoyed the book Ira Sleeps Over by Bernard Waber.  Ira worries that his friend, Reggie, will laugh at his teddy bear named Tah Tah.  It turns out that Reggie also has a teddy bear.  His name is Foo Foo!  We all got a laugh out of the names of the teddy bears, and learned that our friends really won't laugh at us for having a favorite stuffed animal with which to sleep.  (Mrs. Doiron's very old stuffed animal, Betty Bunny, also came to school.)

Our kindergarten students are such great listeners!

Vocabulary Word Dress-Up Day
