Tuna Boats

On Thursday, May 24th, students in our class made "Tuna Boats".  This was a recipe from We Love Our River! by Fran Peacock Coker.  After making their Tuna (or Chicken) Boats, students practiced their Functional Writing by writing out the steps needed to make this tasty snack.  You may want to try it at home!

Tuna Boats
1 can (6.5 oz.) water-packed tuna (or chicken), drained
1 1/2 teaspoon plain low-fat yogurt
1 small bell pepper, any color
1 medium apple, any color

MIX tuna (or chicken) with yogurt.
CUT bell pepper in quarters lengthwise.
REMOVE seeds and membranes.
FILL with tuna (or chicken) mixture.
CUT apples into thin slices.
ADD apple sails on the boats.
