St. Patrick's Day Math

We celebrated St. Patrick's Day by doing "Lucky Charms" Math on Friday, March 15th.  Each student received one cup of cereal in a zipper bag.  Students sorted the marshmallow shapes from the cereal, sorted the marshmallow shapes themselves, then counted how many they had of each shape.  Next, they used this data to create a graph of marshmallow shapes.  Our students demonstrated their ability to sort, count, graph results, and evaluate their data.  Students conversed with each other about which of their marshmallow shapes had the most, fewest, and the same number.  Don't you just love Math?
